SGAI, the British Computer Society Specialist Group on Artificial Intelligence, was founded in June 1980 by Professor Donald Michie, a leading British AI pioneer and a wartime colleague of Alan Turing at Bletchley Park. The Group's mission is: "To foster achievement, capability and awareness in both business and research in Artificial Intelligence, and to promote the interests of the related community".

The Society for the Study of Artificial Intelligence and Simulation of Behaviour (AISB) is the largest Artificial Intelligence Society in the United Kingdom. Founded in 1964, the society has an international membership drawn from both academia and industry. It is a member of the European Coordinating Committee for Artificial Intelligence (see EurAI benefits).
